The Institute for Disaster Management and Reconstruction (IDMR) at Sichuan University, in Chengdu, China, invites applications for numerous faculty positions to begin as early as July 2019,or at a mutually agreed date thereafter.Appointments will span the ranks of high level talents, include Changjiang Scholar Distinguished Professor, Winner of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, National “4 Youth” Talent and SCU Double-hundred Program level B or above.IDMR is an interdisciplinary and highly internationalized research and educational institute, founded as a consequence of the Wenchuan Earthquake of May 12, 2008.As an interdisciplinary research institute located in a major comprehensive Chinese research university, and linked to a premier Hong Kong university, we bring together faculty and students from a broad spectrum of fields to address disaster-related challenges. We welcome applications from candidates in the broad areas of disaster health sciences; natural sciences and engineering related to disasters; and, disaster social sciences and management. We particularly encourage candidates with highly interdisciplinary and novel research interests to apply.
In the next two years we expect to hire approximately 20 new faculty members.
Candidates should have demonstrated excellence in original research and strong fundamental knowledge in a core area. Faculty responsibilities will include teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels, developing novel disaster-related curriculum, conducting original scholarly research, and supervision of student research. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. by the beginning of employment.
The successful candidates shall be provided with a competitive package of remuneration based on their qualifications, experience and the university regulations. Competitive start-up packages will also be provided.
